Rural Pediatric Mental Health Program
Children in rural Colorado often face barriers to accessing specialized mental health care. The Foundation funds a hybrid rural mental health program, offering monthly travel-based therapy programs that bring play therapy, art therapy, and other pediatric modalities directly to these communities and supplementing with virtual sessions in between visits. The Foundation covers non-billable expenses, such as travel, supplies, and extended workdays, to ensure every child receives the care they need.
Reduced-Fee Therapy
The KidStuff Community Foundation believes that no child, adult, or family should face barriers to accessing essential mental health services, including financial hardship or gaps in insurance coverage. Through donations and grants, the Foundation provides financial assistance for uninsured and underinsured individuals seeking reduced-fee counseling services, including support for ongoing therapy and the Strong Foundations Counseling Program.
In addition, when Medicaid coverage is temporarily interrupted due to administrative delays, the Foundation helps ensure continuity of care by providing short-term funding for therapy sessions until coverage is reinstated. We help individuals maintain access to critical mental health services during vulnerable times, preventing disruptions in treatment and promoting long-term well-being.
Strong Foundations Counseling Program
The Strong Foundations Counseling Program is a 10 – part series designed to help children thrive at home, in school, and in relationships – one skill at a time. Through structured therapeutic interventions, children and parents learn how to express and manage emotions, communicate effectively, develop healthy coping strategies, strengthen executive functioning, and feel safe and confident within themselves and their relationships.
Therapeutic Groups for Children and Adults
Healing happens in community. The KidStuff Community Foundation funds the cost of materials and preparation for therapeutic groups such as parenting support, strengthening the parent/child bond, trauma recovery, art and DBT groups, somatic and nature therapy, and expressive modalities like yoga and movement. These groups foster connection, resilience, and emotional growth, and are led by experienced therapists and the Foundation also provides financial support for people without Medicaid who would like to participate in a therapeutic group but are unable to pay.
Community Events and Outreach
The KidStuff Community Foundation is committed to building stronger, healthier communities by increasing access to mental health resources and fostering meaningful connections. Through partnerships with local organizations, schools, businesses, and community leaders, the Foundation actively participates in community events that promote mental health awareness, education, and wellness. These events provide opportunities to connect directly with individuals and families, share valuable resources, reduce stigma surrounding mental health, and ensure that support reaches those who may otherwise face barriers to care.
By maintaining a visible and engaged presence in the community, the Foundation helps create pathways to support, strengthen relationships, and promote mental well-being for all.
